Funeral services for Brenda D. Jackson will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 13, 2014, at W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home with the Rev. Walter Edley officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Jackson, of Vicksburg, died Thursday, Sept. 4, 2014, at River Region Medical Center. She was 54.

She was a born Dec. 4, 1959, in Berkley, Calif., to Sadie Jackson and the late Norman Washington. She was a graduate of Oakland High School and Laney Junior College of Oakland, Calif. She is a former law firm receptionist and a member of the Mount Calvary M. B. Church, where she had been a member of the choir.

Besides her father, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Robert Jackson Sr.; grandfathers, Lee Gaines Sr. and the Rev. Jethro Jackson.

Survivors include her mother, Sadie Jackson; son, David Elliot Hartzfield, of Vicksburg; two brothers, Robert Jackson Jr. of Fresno, Calif., and Troy Washington of Los Angeles; four sisters, Vickie English of Vicksburg, Renita Jackson of Seaside, Calif., and Tara Washington and Toni Washington both of Los Angeles; grandmothers, Lillian Gaines of Vicksburg and Louise Jackson of Oakland, Calif.; two grandchildren; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.
