The Rev. Clifton J. McInnis Jr. died Thursday, Sept. 18, 2014, at his home. He was 87.
Born in Clarksdale, he was the son of the late Clifton Jeter McInnis and Carrie Anne Horne McInnis.
He was a graduate of Clarksdale High School, Delta State University and Virginia Theological Seminary. Rev. McInnis was ordained an Episcopal priest in 1956. He served as rector of Calvary Episcopal Church in Cleveland, St. Paul Episcopal Church in Woodville, and Resurrection Episcopal Church in Starkville.
He served as rector of the Church of the Holy Trinity in Vicksburg from 1969 to 1992, and served as rector emeritus of the Church of the Holy Trinity in Vicksburg and St. Paul Episcopal Church in Woodville.
He was a member of the standing committee, executive committee and deputy to the General Convention for the Diocese of Mississippi.
He is survived by two daughters, Rachel Berkeley McInnis Hardy (Mark) of Vicksburg and Mindy McInnis Giambrone (Joe) of Vicksburg; three sons, Clifton J. “Coach” McInnis III (Johnnie) of Baldwyn, the Rev. Victor McInnis (Minnie) of Pensacola, Fla., and Michael S. McInnis (Lesa) of Fort Worth, Texas; three grandchildren, Dorothy Elizabeth Burgos (Mark), David Peter McInnis (Dotti Kate) and Ashtin Berkeley Giambrone; and two great-grandsons, Levi D. McInnis and Fletcher L. McInnis.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Percy E. McInnis, who he married on May 26, 1953.
Services will be 3 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20, 2014, at the Church of the Holy Trinity, 900 South Street, Vicksburg, with Bishop Duncan Gray III officiating, assisted by the Rev. Beth Palmer, rector.
Visitation will be in McInnis Parish Hall from 1 p.m. Saturday until the service.
