Fall golf series continues at VCC
Wilson Palmertree shot a 36 over seven holes to win the Boys Division C title in the second tournament of the Vicksburg Country Club fall golf series.
Hartley Sullivan shot a 40 over seven holes to edge Joshua Larsen by two shots to win in Boys Division D. In Division E, Will Keen shot a seven-hole total of 44 to win. In Division F, which was a four-hole tournament, Clark Hobson shot a 28 to cruise to victory.
In the girls tournament, Elizabeth Keen shot a seven-hole total of 45 to win the Division D crown and Blair Farrell carded a 39 over four holes to win Division E.
In Division F, Olivia Larsen won with a four-hole total of 32, while Mallory Hobson shot a 45.
Warren Central championship reunion
The 1994 Warren Central football team will celebrate the 20th anniversary of its Class 5A state championship by holding a reunion on Friday and Saturday.
Team members will be honored on the field at halftime of WC’s home game against Northwest Rankin on Friday night.
On Saturday, a banquet will be held in their honor at 7 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Vicksburg Banquet Hall at 115 Cypress Center Blvd. Special guests will include Fox 40 News anchor Melissa Faith Payne and former Vicksburg Post sports writer Duane Cross.

Over the River Run registration
Registration is now open for the 26th annual Over the River Run, a 5-mile run and race walk and 1-mile children’s fun run across the Old Mississippi River Bridge.
The race is scheduled for Oct. 11, and will begin at 8 a.m. at the Mississippi Welcome Center on Washington Street. It is a Mississippi Track Club grand prix event. Raceday registration will begin at 6:30 a.m.
The registration fee is $25 before Oct. 1, or $30 after that date. The fee for children 10 and under is $15 before Oct. 1, and $20 after that date. There is also a $55 family rate for up to five family members living at the same address, and a $75 rate for corporate teams.

Southern Miss baseball camps
Southern Miss’ “Hitting Under the Lights” baseball camp, a four-week clinic focusing on hitting mechanics, approach and contact points, is set to begin Monday in Hattiesburg.
The camp will be conducted on Monday nights on Sept. 29, Oct. 6, Oct. 13 and Oct. 20, and is designed for players in grades 7-12. The cost of the camp is $135, and the application deadline is Friday.
Southern Miss will also host its Fall Showcase Camp on Nov. 22. This camp is designed to allow current high school freshmen through junior college sophomores to showcase their abilities and receive instruction from current Southern Miss coaches, junior college coaches, and other schools.
The Showcase Camp will take place at Pete Taylor Park. Registration starts at 11 a.m., and the camp at noon. The registration fee is $155 per camper.
