On Thursday, Clinton artist Wyatt Waters will be signing his latest calendar at the Lorelei Bookstore.

Waters is known for his colorful renditions of Southern culture, some of which include images of Vicksburg.

“I love coming to Vicksburg,” said Waters, who admitted he had painted more images of the River City than he had of the state’s capital.

The 2015 calendar will feature images of his 2011 journey to Italy, said Waters.

“I had been preparing all of my life for this trip,” said Waters.

He travelled and collaborated with chef Robert St. John to produce “An Italian Palate,” a cookbook spotlighting Italy’s cuisine and art.

Hundreds of watercolors were painted during the trip, he said, and from those paintings he has chosen the images for the calendar.

“These are the pictures I like the best,” said Waters.

Lorelei Books, 1103 Washington St. will host a calendar signing by Clinton artist Wyatt Waters from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday. For more information, call 601-634-8624 or email customerservice@loreleibooks.com.

Waters said he does not do calendars annually since there are other projects he enjoys working on.

The 2015 calendar will only be the artist’s fifth to offer his fans.

The idea to produce a calendar came after Waters said he had done books that included his artwork.

“After I started doing books I noticed people were cutting them up. That was OK,” he said, but decided to make it simpler for those wanting to hang his artwork.

“Calendars are printed so that the pictures will fit a standard 16-by-20 frame,” Waters said.

The calendar signing will run from 4 to 6 p.m. at 1103 Washington St. For more information, call 601-634-8624 or email customerservice@loreleibooks.com.
