Demetris Darcel Young-Baafi died Oct. 7, 2014, at Nyaho Medical Center, Accra, Ghana. She was 51 years old. 

She was retired from the U.S. Army as a second lieutenant, and was a 1980 graduate of Warren Central High School.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Melvin Young.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas Baafi Sr.; one daughter, Afua Baafi of Atlanta, one son, Thomas Baafi Jr., of Windsor Ontario, Canada; three sisters, Earnestine Young of Detroit, Joyce Young of Spring, Texas, and Carolyn Brown of Vicksburg; three brothers, Walter Young Jr. of Vicksburg, Willie Young of Detroit, and Bernard Young of Wiesbaden, Germany; two grandchildren; two uncles, John Carson Sr. of Vicksburg and Willie Young of Zion, Ill.; two aunts, Dorothy Carson and Ernestine Carson, both of Vicksburg.

Services will be noon today, Oct. 25, 2014, at Locust Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Vicksburg with the Rev. Kevin Winters officiating.
