Two Vicksburg teens were injured by a shotgun blast Monday night on National Street.
At about 9:30 p.m. Jalin Hargrove, 18, 435 Lake Hill Drive, and Gregory Vaughn, 18, 1501 Grove St., were wounded in a shooting in the 800 block of National Street, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.
Police responded to National Street after receiving several calls of shots fired in the area, Williams said.
At the scene, there were no shooting victims, but police found shell casings and noticed that a residence and vehicle had been struck, Williams said.
Shortly after arriving on National Street, River Region Medical Center staff called police to report two gunshot victims had arrived in a private vehicle, Williams said.
Hargrove and Vaughn were treated and released from the hospital, she said.
No arrested had been made this morning and the motive for the shooting was under investigation, Williams said.
Homeless man charged with embezzlement
A homeless man accused of stealing from his former employer was held without bail this morning.
Cory Michael Brewer, 35, was returned to Warren County on Monday to face embezzlement charges, Sheriff Martin Pace said.
Brewer is accused of stealing more than $2,000 in deposits from Bumpers Drive-In, 120 Mississippi 27, Pace said.
The restaurant filed an affidavit against Brewer on Oct. 9, and he was arrested by Hinds County deputies and returned to Warren County on Monday, Pace said.
Hinds officials said Brewer is homeless and was living in a motel.
Brewer was set to have his initial appearance today in justice court, but will not be eligible to post bail, Pace said.
“He is also wanted out of Florida on larceny charges, so he has a no bail detainer placed on him for the state of Florida at this time,” Pace said.
