Woman faces counterfeit charges

A Vicksburg woman faces charges of counterfeiting and conspiracy to commit a crime after her arrest Sunday by Port Gibson police on a warrant from the Vicksburg Police Department, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.

Shaniqua Brown, 30, 821 Speed St., is accused of passing 36 counterfeit $100 bills at Walmart between July 5 and 9, Williams said. She said Brown was identified through a CrimerStoppers tip and she was shown on the media.

She said Brown, who also faces a charge of uttering forgery involving two checks totaling $1,292 that were cashed at Doc’s Wholesale in Vicksburg on July 1 and 3, was being held at the Claiborne County Jail and was to be returned to Vicksburg today for an initial appearance in Municipal Court.

Sunday traffic stop nets arrest

A traffic stop Sunday in the 4000 block of Washington Street resulted in the arrests of a Jackson man on a Hinds County Sheriff’s Department warrant for possession of cocaine, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.

She said William McNair, 39, 1524 Gordon Park, Jackson, was stopped by officer Paul Billotte, who received a notice from the Delta, La., marshal about McNair with a description of McNair’s car. McNair was picked up Sunday by Hinds County authorities.

Wallet, smartphone reported missing

A wallet containing $300 and a smartphone valued at $180 were reported missing about 7:20 p.m. Sunday from a 2010 Nissan Altima parked in the 4000 block of East Clay Street, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.

Handgun, flashlight among items missing from truck

A Glock 9mm handgun valued at $500, a flashlight valued at $120 and a $15 foam ice chest were reported missing about 8:15 a.m. Saturday from a 2014 Ford F-150 pickup parked in the 100 block of Maison Rue, Vicksburg policed Capt. Sandra Williams said.

Trailer taken from Home Depot

A 6-foot by 12-foot utility trailer valued at $1,520 was reported taken from Home Depot, 50 Halls Ferry Park Road, about 1 p.m. Saturday, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.
