Car burglar on the lam

A burglar is on the lam after being spotted snatching a purse, cash and a cellphone from a car on Paxton Road.

At about 11:50 a.m. Wednesday, a woman reported that she entered a home in the 6800 block of Paxton Road and saw a man rummaging though her car, Sheriff Martin Pace said.

The burglar made off with a small amount of cash and a Samsung cellphone valued at $600 while dropping a purse and its contents, Pace said.

Anyone with information about the burglary is encouraged to call Warren County Sheriff’s Office at 601-636-1761 or Central Mississippi Crime Stoppers at 601-355-8477.

Callers to Crime Stoppers remain anonymous and do not have to testify in court. Crime Stoppers will pay a cash reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest of a felony suspect.

One held for probation warrant

A Warren County man accused of violating probation was held without bail this morning.

Alvis Christian, 37, 279 Ironwood Drive, was arrested on a warrant from the Mississippi Department of Corrections at Dixiana Motel, 4041 Washington St., after police received an anonymous tip about drug activity at the motel, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.

Christian is on probation for possession of a controlled substance, Williams said.

Christian was held without bail this morning in the Issaquena County Correctional Facility.
