Gwenerver “Gwen” Gail Moore died Monday, Nov. 3, 2014, in Upper Marlboro, Md. She was 43.
She was born April 16, 1971, in Vicksburg to Nelson and Estella Anderson.
Ms. Moore graduated from Vicksburg High School in 1989. She had bachelor’s degree in political science and masters of public administration, and was pursuing a Ph.D. in public health from the University of Maryland, College Park, Md.
She participated in the Environmental Protection Agency’s internship program, and later worked with the agency’s Office of Research and Development, National Center for Environmental Assessment in Washington, D.C.
She was a member and life member with the EPA Blacks in Government, William D. Barber Jr. Chapter. She served as chairman of the scholarship committee, was a regional representative and delegate to the Big National Training Conference, and was a steward and member of Local 3331 of the American Federation of Government Employees.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Glenarden, Upper Marlboro, Md., a member of the Divine Discipleship for Sisters and Queen Esther Ministries, and a member of Continental Societies Inc., a public service organization serving children and youth in the Prince George’s County community. She was a member of the Jackson State University Alumni Association.
She was preceded in death by her father, Nelson Anderson.
Survivors include her mother, Estella Mae Anderson; sisters, Andrea Moore and Rhoda Moore; brothers, Charles Moore and Jerome Anderson; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014, at Greater Grove Street MB Church with the Rev. Dr. Casey D. Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be Friday from 2:30 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
