Janice O’Neal

Janice Marie O’Neal of Dallas died, Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2014, at her home. She was 53.

Ms. O’Neal was born on April 16, 1961, to the late Eliza O’Neal Mims and Jimmy Berry in Vicksburg.

She graduated from Vicksburg High School and attended Hinds Community College in Utica, where she played basketball. She worked in several jobs before going to work for United Parcel Service, where she became the first female delivery driver in Vicksburg. During her career with UPS she received Employee of the Month and Employee of the Year awards. She moved to Dallas in 2011 to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandmother, Lucille O’Neal Elmore, and grandfather, John H. Elmore.

Survivors include her daughter, Latasha Freeman of Cedar Hill, Texas; two grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; brother, Larry O’Neal of Aberdeen, Md.; sister, Sandra Hall of Dallas; and nephews, a great-niece, cousins, and other relatives and friends.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2014, at Lakeview Funeral Home with the Rev. Edmond Gibbs officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday at the funeral home from 1 to 6 p.m. with the family present from 5 to 6 p.m.
