Joanne Thurman Chisholm, 79, of Vicksburg, devoted wife and mother, stepped into the arms of Jesus on Monday, Nov. 24, 2014, after a lengthy illness.

She was preceded in death by her parents, P.H. “Shine” and Estelle Thurman, and a brother Glen Thurman.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Earl Chisholm; daughters, Cathy Wilson (Kerry) of Vicksburg and Sue Buie (Dale) of Center, Texas; sister-in-law, Mary Chisholm Anders (Ronnie) of Mountain View, Ark.; “love adopted” son, Jackie Peavy (Beverly) of Downsville, La.; grandchildren, Kevin Gatchell, Randy Gatchell, Rudy Andreatta and Niki Rakes, all of Vicksburg, and Amy Andreatta Goble (Scott) of Grand Junction, Colo.; nine great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

Riles Funeral Home will be in charge of the viewing today from 5 to 7 p.m.

Mrs. Chisholm will be taken to Bastrop, La., to Cox Funeral Home, where there will be a viewing on Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. Services will be at the chapel 11 a.m. Saturday at with the Rev. Bryan Abel, pastor of the Grace Baptist Church of Vicksburg officiating. Interment will be at the Christ Church Cemetery in Bastrop.
