A Warren County jury deliberated about two hours Friday before finding Rondell Galvin not guilty in the shooting death of another man during an argument over a loud car stereo, District Attorney Ricky Smith said.
“I guess the jury just didn’t find the evidence we presented was enough to find him guilty beyond a reasonable doubt,” Smith said after the four-day trial.
Galvin, 23, 209 Overlook Drive, was accused of shooting William Jones Jr., 20, 280 Curry St., in the front yard of his home about 2:15 a.m. July 15, 2011.
His family found Jones’ body on the lawn of the home after they heard gunshots.
About $120 and a cellphone were missing after Jones’ death, according to court documents.
Jones and Galvin had been arguing earlier in the night after Jones asked Galvin to turn down his car stereo, according to court documents.
Following the shooting, a witness reported seeing Galvin running near his home and hiding something under a storage shed. Police found a .410-caliber Taurus five-shot revolver under the shed, according to court documents.
