A Vicksburg teen accused of breaking into a home on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and then wearing a stolen sweatshirt while being interrogated was held without bail this morning.
Joseph Dunmore, 19, 3120 South Frontage Road, was arrested Wednesday and charged with residential burglary, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.
Dunmore was at home and had no shirt on when police arrived, Williams said. Investigators told him to put on a shirt before taking him to the police station for questioning, and he picked out a Mississippi State sweatshirt.
At police headquarters, the burglary victims were also being interviewed and passed by Dunmore as he was being brought in. One of the victims identified the shirt as having been stolen from their home on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, Williams said.
Dunmore’s arrest led to the arrest of Devante Howard, 18, 201 Buena Vista Drive who was taken into custody at 6 p.m. Wednesday and charged with possession of stolen property.
Howard had in his possession “a considerable amount” of items that had been stolen from the MLK home, Williams said.
The items were stolen from the home on Dec. 10, Williams said.
Both suspects were held without bail this morning in the Issaquena County Correctional Facility.
A third suspect, Jacob Love, 18, 243 Sky Farm Ave., was arrested Tuesday and charged with business burglary and residential burglary. He posted a total of $10,000 bail and was released.
Love is also accused of breaking into USA Pawn, 235 Warrenton Road, and stealing hunting weapons. Investigators are working to determine if Dunmore and Howard were involved in the pawnshop burglary, William said.
“The investigators did an outstanding job in working these burglaries,” Williams said.

He was held without bail this morning in the Issaquena County Correctional Facility awaiting his initial appearance in Vicksburg Municipal Court.
