James R. Prince

James R. Prince died Friday, Dec. 19, 2014 at the River Region Medical Center in Vicksburg. He was 74.
James was born and raised in Keiser, Ark. and graduated from Harrisville High school in Harrisville. He then enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving until 1979 when he retired after 20 years of service, retiring with the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He then worked in the Personnel Office at the Naval Air Station (NAS) in Meridian. He then was employed with the Waterways Experiment Station (WES) in Vicksburg for 20 years, retiring in 2001. Later, he was a member of Goodrum Baptist Church.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 30 years, Ellen Worth Prince.
Survivors include his wife, Billie Prince of Vicksburg; two daughters, Colleen Prince-Elcan of Hillsborough, N.C. and Andrea Prince, of Hattiesburg; his sister, Kathy Porter of Valley Park; his brother, Johnny Prince of Vancleave; and six grandchildren.
Services are 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014, in the chapel of Glenwood Funeral Home with the Rev. Ronnie Purser officiating. Interment will follow in Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the hour of the service.
Pallbearers will be Robbie Prince, Johnny “Buck” Prince, Rodney Porter, Anthony Gunter, Philip Elcan and Michael Bland.
Honorary pallbearers will be Steven Paul Chambliss, Melvin Thomas Chambliss, Andrew Hayden Chambliss, Jayce Thomas Chambliss and Edward Bryant.
