L. Max Reed

L. Max Reed of Vicksburg died Saturday, Dec. 27, 2014, at Baptist Hospital. He was 80.

Max was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He retired from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, where he worked as a civil engineer, and he was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church Choir for 40 years.

He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Mary H. Reed; one sister, Joan Ireland of Clever, Mo.; two daughters, Robin Hallatschek (Joe) and Leslie Rodgers (Tim); and four grandchildren, Sarah Hallatschek, Stephanie Scurria (Greg), Rebecca Kittell (Jonathan) and Reed Rodgers; and one great-grandchild, Caroline Scurria.

A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church Tuesday, Dec. 30 at 11 am.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service.

The family asks in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church Choir, 1501 Cherry St., Vicksburg, MS  39180.
