Jacob’s Ladder
• The students at Jacob’s Ladder are glad to be back at school after a nice two weeks off to celebrate the holidays with family and friends.
• We went grocery shopping at Kroger on Monday and to the YMCA on Tuesday to work on basketball skills.
• Our friends, the ladies of Dante’s Dulcimers, came to the school on Wednesday to play music for us.

Porters Chapel Academy
• Eager Eagle of the week in the first grade class of Rebecca Pace was Mercedes Lancaster. Student of the month was Garrett Reeves. He received a certificate and treat bag. Students are creating booklets in Science on the topics of hibernation, migration, and adaptation, and booklets in Social Studies on the topic of community helpers, goods, and services. Students have begun the Four Square Writing Process to write paragraphs.

Redwood Elementary School
• Morning announcement leaders for the week were Joey Greer, Hailey Blackwell, Jason Ashley, and Jamie Boyd.
• Faculty participated in Implementation Day training for The Leader in Me. A heartfelt thank you goes to Mrs. Johnson and her central office staff for the coordination of substitutes and teachers and assistant teachers from across the district that made this training possible. Redwood Elementary is now an official Leader in Me school!!! Let the leading begin!!!
• Students participated in a “Kick-off” Celebration for The Leader in Me on Wednesday morning. Teachers performed a skit, children participated in a synergy activity, and a spirit competition between the classes was held. Mrs. Watkins’ third grade class was the first winner of the “spirit stick”. Fifth grade teacher, Mr. Silpe explained “Caught Ya Cards”, which will be given to students caught exhibiting one or more of the 7 habits.
• PTO is selling Redwood Elementary Cookbooks for $10. Delicious recipes have been compiled just for you! What a wonderful treat! Don’t delay, buy one today!
• Items for the PTO Rummage Sale on Feb. 7th can be brought to the school now. Any donations are appreciated. Now is the time to clean out for a good cause! Your trash is another’s treasure!

South Park Elementary School
• Semester Awards Day was Friday, Jan. 9th. Awards were given to those students that earned
All “A” honor roll, “AB” honor roll, and perfect attendance.
• Ms. Powers’ kindergarten students were the pledge helpers for the week.

Warren Central High School
• Friday, Jan. 16, at 6:30 p.m. in Gym A, the Big Blue Winter Guard and Indoor Percussion will have a show and tell to debut their competition routine.
• Any junior or senior who is interested in competing in the Mississippi Science and Mathematics Tournament at Mississippi College on Feb. 12, see Mrs. Brannon (room 509). Students may compete in two of the following subjects: biology, chemistry, math, physics, and computer science. Winner will be awarded scholarships to Mississippi College.
• T-shirts for the musical, Beauty and the Beast, are on sale in the choir room until Friday, Jan. 16. Costs are $10 for sizes S to XL and $12 for 2X or larger.
• The first half of the Red Cord Community Service hours are due in the guidance office by Jan. 20, 2015 for students seeking the award.

Warren Central Junior High School
• Winners in the Warren Junior Reading Fair are: Individual Fiction – 1st – Peyton Pierce; 2nd-Tyler Starnes; 3rd-Tyler Jackson. • Report Cards were issued to all students on Friday, Jan. 9. If your student did not receive a report card, you should contact the counselor’s office.
• Warren Junior Science fair is Jan. 23. Students have received information from their science teachers.
• Warren Junior Invitational Basketball Tournament is Jan.16-17.
• School will not be in session on Monday, Jan. 19 in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.
