Meeting Tuesday, the Vicksburg Board of Mayor and Aldermen:
• Recognized firefighters Daniel Greer and Charles Greer on their 10th anniversaries with the city.
• Took under advisement a $174,500 bid from Empire Truck Sales of Jackson. Empire was the lone bidder for the vehicle. In another matter, the city received no bids for surplus property it is selling at the corner of Magnolia and Crayton streets.
• Approved new and revised police department policies and procedures for appearance and grooming, detainees in temporary custody, electronic control devices and courtroom security.
• Reappointed John Ferguson to the Vicksburg Housing Authority Board of Commissioners.
• Approved the following additions to the employee driving list: Andrew Rodgers II, Daniel Moulder, Jacob Artman, John Chase, Jeffery Hearn, ShaFreta Kelly, Joseph Straight, Andrew Thornton and DeShaundra Eatmon, fire department; Jonathon Somerville, IT; and McKendrick Thomas, Eric Perkins and Elinzon Jones, police department.
• Approved an allocation of $15,000 to the Warren County Soil and Water Conservation District, and a $17,000 allocation to the Community Fund for Four Seasons of the Arts. Both amounts are given annually by the board the organizations and are in the budget.
• Accepted a payment in lieu of taxes totaling $43,247.42 from the Vicksburg Housing Authority, and approved resealing and striping the VHA’s parking areas.
• Approved paying the following requisitions: $13,794.72 to Taser International Inc. of Scottsdale, Ariz., to purchase tasers for the police department, and $23,648.10 for water meters for the water mains department.
• Authorized Mayor George Flaggs Jr. to sign a $1,700 agreement with JBHM Architects of Pearl to handle the design work for the elevator project at the Vicksburg Municipal Airport. The elevator is part of a project to open and renovate the airport terminal’s second floor.
• Authorized Flaggs to sign an agreement with Demetriuse Claiborne for paramedic training. Under the agreement, the city will pay for Claiborne’s training. In return, he agrees to work with the city as a paramedic for at least two years. If he leaves before that time is up, he must reimburse the city.
