George Patrick Bonner

George Patrick Bonner passed away Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2015, at River Region Medical Center. He was 78.

He was born in Jackson on Feb. 10, 1936.  After graduating from Central High School, he went on to receive degrees in physics and geology from Millsaps College, where he was a member of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity. He also received a master’s degree in engineering mechanics from Mississippi State University, and served in the United States Marine Corps.

He was employed at ERDC for 36 years, retiring as division chief of the Instrumentation Services Division and was inducted into the Gallery of Distinguished Employees. He was a member of Crawford Street United Methodist Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond D. Bonner and Valmine Weber Bonner.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Nancy Lipscomb Bonner; his children, Tricia Bonner Dulaney (Marland) of Tallahassee, Fla., Mike Bonner (Kyt) of Vicksburg and Dan Bonner (Becky) of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Dami, Kimberly, Dale, Toni, Cassie, and Patrick Dulaney of Tallahassee, and Hannah, Danielle, and Beth Ann Bonner of Houston; and his cousin, Alice Carol Mozingo of Jackson.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, Jan. 26, 2015 at Crawford Street Methodist Church with Rev. Cary Stockett officiating. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service.

Memorials may be made to Crawford St. Methodist Church or the Wounded Warriors Project.
