Thomas Russum Sr.

Thomas Russum Sr. passed away Monday, Jan. 26, 2015, at Promise Hospital in Madison. He was 92.
Born Aug. 9, 1922, to William Henry Russum and Nellie Humphrys Russum, he lived most of his life in Port Gibson. He was employed as a manager for Union Gas Co.
He was a World War II veteran and retired from the Army Reserve’s 412th Engineers command.
He was appointed by the governor to the Claiborne County Port Commission, served as Port Gibson city councilman/alderman for 36 years, was a member of the Claiborne County Hospital Board of Trustees, the Claiborne County Jury selection committee, Lion’s Club and the Masonic Lodge. He was a member of Port Gibson Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Gertye Russum; son, Tommy Russum Jr.; daughters, Linda Strong (Jeff) and Judy Harbour (Jody); and five grandchildren, Jeff Mac Strong (Kimberly), Blake Strong, Lexie Agan (Payton), Lee Harbour, and Chandler Harbour.
A graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. today, Jan. 28, 2015, at Wintergreen Cemetery with William May officiating.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Mac Strong, Blake Strong, Lee Harbour, Chandler Harbour, and Payton Agan.
Memorials may be made to Port Gibson Baptist Church.
