• Accepted a bid of $174,500 from Empire Truck Sales of Richland for a new street sweeper. Empire was the lone bidder.

• Accepted an application from CAM2 International LLC for a property tax exemption on equipment totaling $4.3 million. The company, which manufactures lubricating oils, opened its plant on Haining Road in May.

The board also authorized Osborne to advertise for bids to install new lime slakers at the water treatment plant, and the city’s continuing sewer assessment program. The assessment program is required under a consent decree with the Environmental Protection Agency that requires the city to assess, evaluate and replace and upgrade its 108-year-old sewer collection system over the next 10 years. The consent decree was reached after an EPA investigation found the city had allowed untreated wastes to flow into local streams and the Mississippi River.

• Approved filing liens on the following properties for cleaning and clearing the sites: 1500 East Ave., Abraham L. Fowler, $2,532.50; 1360 East Ave., Dabney Ross c/o Dabney Yvonne Ross, $130; lot on East Avenue, State of Mississippi, $142.50.

• Approved a request for $5,000 to the Vicksburg-Warren Chamber of Commerce Vicksburg-Warren Retirement Development Program.

• Approved a request from Haven House Family Shelter for $30,000.

• Approved the second and final $15,000 payment to the Warren County Soil and Water Conservation District.

• Approved the following payments to Vicksburg-Warren 911: $593.05 for Aug. 1to15, $39,894.85 for Oct. 31 to Nov. 14, $46,141.22 for Dec. 1 to Dec. 15, and $51,604 from Dec. 31 to Jan. 15. The payments are the city’s share of salaries and benefits for the 911 dispatchers.

• Adopted the city’s fair housing resolution. In a related matter, the board approved publishing a notice that the city will not discriminate against minority-owned businesses and will enforce federal fair housing regulations.

The resolution and notices are part of the requirements for a $400,000 Mississippi Development Authority Public Facilities Community Development Block Grant to help pay for repairs at the city’s wastewater treatment plant on Rifle Range Road.

• Approved the claims docket.
