Dorothy Annette Lambert Sligh, 57, died Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015, at her home in Vicksburg. Visitation will begins at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015, at Wright and Ferguson Funeral Home in Clinton followed by services at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Cedar Lawn Cemetery.
Annette was born June 19, 1957 in Selma, Ala. She received her associate’s degree in nursing from Southern Union Community College in Opelika, Ala. She was an ordained minister, and had worked as a registered nurse for over 25 years in Opelika, Montgomery, Ala., Jackson and Vicksburg. She was also lead singer in the gospel group The Gospelettes.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William D. Rhodes and Clara (Joe) McCormick, and her previous husband David Lambert.
Her survivors include her husband, Thomas Sligh of Vicksburg; stepmother, Bobbie Rhodes of Brandon; children, Susanne (John) Coleman of Opelika, Cynthia Lee (PJ) Nichols of Opelika and William M. (Amber) Farmer of Brandon; nine grandchildren; a sister, Cynthia (Michael) Jones of Boyertown, Pa.; two brothers, Joe (Angela) McCormick of Auburn, Ala., and Scott McCormick of Opelika; as well as aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
