The Gala of The Royal Horses, which is making its inaugural North American equestrian tour will stop at the Vicksburg Convention Center Thursday and Friday.
“Ticket sales are picking up great,” said Julie Ford, VCC sales and marketing director. “We should have a pretty good crowd Thursday and get close to selling out Friday.”
“You can’t see this anywhere else. It is truly a one-of-a-kind show,” she said.
“The hall will be set up as an arena,” Ford said.. “There will be some floor seating and behind that will be tiered seating. There will not be a bad seat for the performance. The horses will use a special floor that is brought and set up by the company.”
She said the seating configuration was designed because the horses need a roll-up door to enter the arena.
The Royal horses of Europe are some of the most celebrated in history, favored for centuries by royalty, equestrian riders and bullfighters. The performance will celebrate the tradition, athleticism and grace of the animals.
The Gala of The Royal Horses will feature performances involving the Andalusian, Friesian, Lipizzaner and Arabian breeds, and the event is dedicated to showing off their beauty and maneuvers, including the stunning maneuvers once used on the battlefield now known as “the airs above the ground.”
The program will also feature a performance by Spanish flamenco dancers dancing alongside the horses.
Tickets for the program are $32 and on sale now at the convention center box office and all Ticketmaster Outlets. Those interested in group discounts can call Ford at 601-630-2929.
