Three teens charged in armed robbery

Three teens accused of stealing cash and cellphones at gunpoint were in jail Thursday.
Kelvin Jones, 16, 320 Fisher Ferry Road, Jetherell Drayton, 16, 7699 Halls Ferry Road, and another teen being charged as a juvenile were arrested Wednesday and charged with two counts of armed robbery, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.
The trio is accused of stealing two cellphones, cash, sunglasses and cigarettes from two people Feb. 20 on Drucilla Lane, Williams said.
Jones and Drayton were arrested at Jones’ home where a weapon matching the description of the one used in the robbery was recovered, Williams said.
They were held without bail Thursday in the Issaquena County Correctional Facility.
The third teen was held in the Warren County Youth Detention Center.
“His involvement is still under investigation,” Williams said.
Man held in second domestic violence case in a month
A Vicksburg man is facing his second felony domestic violence charge in a month was held without bail Thursday.
Eddie Jones, 24, 206 Winters Lane, surrendered Wednesday, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams.
Jones is accused trying to force his way into his ex-girlfriend’s apartment Tuesday, Williams said.
In February, Jones was charged with aggravated domestic violence by strangulation, Williams said.
He was held in the Issaquena County Correctional Facility awaiting an initial court appearance set for Friday, though it is likely that his bail will be revoked in the previous felony case, making him ineligible to post a bond.
Jones could face additional charges from another altercation with his ex-girlfriend, Williams said.
Scooter stolen on Drummond
A motor scooter was missing Thursday following a theft on Drummond Street.
Wednesday, a burnt orange 2014 Honda scooter valued at $2,100 was reported missing from a home in the 3300 block of Drummond, Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.
Anyone with information about the theft is encouraged to call Central Mississippi Crime Stoppers at 601-355-8477. Callers to Crime Stoppers remain anonymous and do not have to testify in court. Crime Stoppers will pay a cash reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest of a felony suspect.
