After nearly a month of rainouts and disappointment, the Porters Chapel Academy Eagles finally got to feel the sun shine down on them this week.

Hunter Lyons went 4-for-4, including a pair of doubles, and drove in five runs, and the Eagles used a nine-run third inning to beat Park Place Christian Academy 10-4 on Friday.

Josh Daffron had a double for PCA and also pitched five strong innings to get the victory.

It was the second consecutive win for PCA (2-4) after an uneven first month that saw it endure a half-dozen rainouts and a four-game losing streak to start the year.

“It was great to get two wins this week. It was great to play this week,” PCA coach Wade Patrick said. “Even today, it was 50-50 if we were going to play or not. You’re trying to get it in and then you win on top of it. For the kids to see the benefits of the hard work they put in, that’s the great part of it. That knowing that, hey, we can win.”

PCA is scheduled to host Adams County Christian on Monday, then jumps into District 5-A play with three games against Clinton Christian.

PCA plays at Clinton Christian at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, then hosts a doubleheader between the schools beginning at 4 p.m. on Thursday.
