Jack D. Sanders

Jack D. Sanders died Thursday, March 19, 2015, at Veterans Administration Home in Jackson. He was 91. Born in Columbus, he was the son of the late John F. Sanders and Annie Curtis Sanders, and had been a resident of Vicksburg most of his life.

Mr. Sanders was a veteran of World War II, serving in the army. He was discharged on Dec. 24, 1945, with the rank of sergeant. He was employed by R.G. LeTourneau for 41 years prior to his retirement. Mr. Sanders enjoyed fishing, hunting and boating with his family and friends. He was an avid bowler.

He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Frances King Sanders; two daughters, Jackie Hutto (Tommy) of Eagle Lake and Randi Graham (Joe) of Vicksburg; three granddaughters, Judy Keller (Carl) of Brandon, Angie Fulgham (Tom) of Vicksburg, and Pam Patterson (Dan) of Vicksburg; one grandson, Jerry Lamb (Christy) of Vicksburg; three great-granddaughters: Kayla Jones(Jeremy) of Nashville, Tenn., Erin Keller of Starkville and Hayley Patterson of Vicksburg; and a sister-in-law, Lois Alford of Vicksburg.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Sanders; four brothers, J. B. Sanders, O’Neal Sanders, Willard Sanders and Floyd (Buddy) Sanders; and a sister, Hazel Pettway.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 24, 2015, at Riles Funeral Home with the Rev. Tommy Miller officiating. Visitation will be from noon Tuesday until the service. Burial will be at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Mississippi Muscular Dystrophy Association, 2001 Airport Road #205, Flowood, MS 39232; Mississippi Alzheimer’s Association, 196 Chamant Drive, Suite 4, Ridgeland, MS; and the Wounded Warriors Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.

Pallbearers will be Jerry Lamb, Carl Keller, Dan Patterson, Greg Warnock, Tom Fulgham, Joe Graham, Jimmy Salmon and Rusty Haydel.

Honorary Pallbearers will be Gwen Taylor, Junius Williams, Will Hubert, Bob Marr, Walter Pettway, Joe Pettway, Gary Pettway, Brian Sanders, Jay Sanders, Wayne McMaster, Jesse Davenport, Clifton McMillon, Otto (Bo) King, Willie Hughes and Jeremy Jones.
