Florence Lillian Carter

Florence Lillian Carter of Vicksburg went to be with our Lord May 7, 2015.
She was born Florence Lillian Ross to John I. W. and Minnie Alexander Ross in Redlick on Feb. 22, 1922. Everyone that knew “Boommaw,” as she was lovingly known, as a woman with a hard work ethic. She had a loving heart and would sacrifice to help those in need. Her love was poured out on everyone regardless the reward. She had a generous and humble spirit and was loved by all who knew her.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Charles B. Carter; two brothers, Clarence W. Ross of Richmond, Va., and Raeburn R. Davis of Houston, Texas.
She is survived by her daughter, Jane Carpenter (Murl); sons, Wayne Carter (Donna), Danny Carter (Diane), Virgil Carter (Penny) and Paul Carter (Jill Moore); seven grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great-grandchildren.
The family would like to thank the nurses and staff of the Vicksburg Convalescent Home, Dr. Lee Giffin, and all of “Boommaw’s” many friends who showed their care and support in her later years. Thanks everyone for your prayers for her and our family.
Graveside services will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at Greenlawn Gardens with the Rev. Dwight Sibley officiating. Visitation will be at Riles Funeral Home from 1 p.m. Tuesday until the service.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Calvary Baptist Church and Paws Rescue.
Pallbearers will be Lance Hall, Pete Chapman, Chris Carter, Grant Carter, Steve Riale and Blake Terry.
