Dewey Wesley Owsley Sr.

Dewey Wesley Owsley Sr., a native of Vicksburg, died Sunday, May 10, 2015, at his home.  He was 95.

Mr. Owsley was a corporal in the United States Army in Company M, 108th Infantry during World War II.  He was a retired employee of the Fisher Ferry Water District.

Mr. Owsley was preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Vivian Owsley; his wife, Mary Frances “Boots” Hearn Owsley; and a sister, Dorothy Redditt.

Survivors include his son, Dewey W. Owsley Jr. of Vicksburg; two daughters, Susan Owsley and Diane Dill, both of Vicksburg; eight grandchildren, Randy Wester, Tere Burks, Wayne Dill, Dawn Kemp, Michael Dill, Shane Kemp, Nicole Owsley Warnock, Dewey W. “Trey” Owsley III; 16 great-grandchildren, Kharis Brewer, Matthew Brewer, Brandon Brewer, Grace Wester, Jason Statham, Jessica Statham, Hannah Dill, Payton Dill, Olivia Dill, Cara Hollingsworth, Austin Kemp, Jacob Kemp, Evie Hilderbrand, James Hilderbrand, Nadia Owsley, Dewey W. “Wesley” Owsley IV; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Thursday, May 14, 2015, at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Francis Vriesen officiating.

Visitation is today from 5 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home, and Thursday from 1 p.m. until the hour of service.

Burial will follow at Greenlawn Gardens Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Shane Kemp, Trey Owsley, Randy Wester, Wayne Dill, Michael Dill, John Hilderbrand.  Honorary pallbearers will be George Dill, Hugh Guest and Austin Kemp.
