Larry “Big Poppy” Smith died Saturday, June 20, 2015, at Promise Healthcare. He was 54.

He was born April 9, 1961, to the late Gloria Smith Thomas.

Mr. Smith was preceded in death by his mother, Gloria Smith Thomas; sister, Ledoris Fields; grandmother, Lee Dora Smith; and five uncles, Robert Smith, Otis Smith, Annaise Smith, Eugene Smith and Alonzo Webber.

Survivors include his wife, Joyce Hardy Smith of Vicksburg; a stepson, Gary Hardy of Vicksburg; four step-grandchildren; a brother, Eric “Pete” Smith of Vicksburg; two stepsisters, Irene Turner and Josephine McRunnels of Boston; two stepbrothers, Willie McRunnels of Port Gibson and Joseph McRunnels of Vicksburg; and cousins and other relatives and friends.

Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, June 27, 2015, at Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Wesley officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday at the funeral home from 1 to 7 p.mm with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m.
