Annie Mae Mixon-Burks died Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at Merit Health River Region Medical Center. She was 79.

Mrs. Burks was born July 28, 1935, to the late Eli Mixon and Alma Mitchell Polk.

She attended St. Mary’s Catholic Church and later became a member of New Rock of Ages M.B. Church until her death.

She graduated from St. Mary’s Catholic School. She was a stay-at-home wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her three brothers, Joe Edingbert, Oscar Mixon and Tommy Mixon; and her niece, Alma Jackson.

Survivors include her sons, Von Mixon Sr., Gerald Burks, Eric Burks and Patrick Burks, all of Vicksburg, and Channing Burks of Hattiesburg; daughters, Pamela Bell, Monica Burks, Lauren Burks-Wildee and Ava Burks, all of Vicksburg; one brother, Larry Mitchell of Vicksburg; and one sister, Ida Moss of Richmond, Texas; two sisters-in-laws; two brothers-in-laws; special cousins; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Services will be 11a.m. Saturday, July 18, 2015, at Travelers Rest Baptist Church with the Rev. Johnathan Hamlin officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.

Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with the family present from 5 to 6 p.m., and Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.
