Funeral services for Willie Jean Carter-Alexander will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 1, 2015, at House of Peace Church with the Rev. Dr. Ollie Hardaway officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of W. H. Jefferson Funeral Home.

Visitation is Friday from 6 to 7 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Carter-Alexander died Thursday, July 23, 2015, at Merit Health River Region Medical Center. She was 59. She had worked as a certified nurse aide at Shady Lawn Nursing Home and was a member of Faith Christian Center.

She was preceded in death by her parents Willie and Rachel Whitfield Carter Sr.; and brothers, Joe Howard Sr. and Ronnie Houston.

Survivors include three sons, Eric Carson Sr., Derrick Carson Sr. and Jeremy Brown, all of Vicksburg; two daughters, Anissia Carter and Angela Jenkins, both of Vicksburg; five brothers, Willie Carter Jr. and Floyd Howard, both of Detroit, Robel Howard of New Orleans and Claude Whitfield and Shelby Howard, both of Baton Rouge, La.; a sister, Ethel Carter Carson of Vicksburg; two grandchildren; and niece nieces, nephews cousins and other relatives and friends.
