Samuel O’Neal died Wednesday, July 29, 2015, at Merit Health River Region Medical Center. He was 47.

He was a member of Greater Grove Street Missionary Baptist Church.

Mr. O’Neal was a 1985 graduate of Vicksburg High School, and attended Alcorn State University, where he studied elementary education.

He was preceded in death by his father, George W. O’Neal; two brothers, Jaymes O’Neal and George O’Neal Jr.; his paternal grandparents, George W. O’Neal and Marie “Miliken” O’Neal; his maternal grandparents, Ira Tolliver and Gusteenia Tolliver.

Survivors include his son, Joshua Lewis of Houston, Texas; mother, Willie O’Neal-Peaches; two brothers, Matthew O’Neal and Calvin O’Neal, both of Vicksburg; three sisters, Felicia

O’Neal McClure and LaTangie O’Neal both of Huntsville, Ala., and Mary “Tori” Carter of Vicksburg; and aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, 2015, at Greater Grove Street M.B. Church with the Rev. Dr. Casey Fisher officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.

Visitation will be Friday at the funeral home from 1 to 7 p.m. with the family present from 6 to 7 p.m.
