A house at 2520 Old Hwy 27 was a total loss Saturday afternoon. The home belonged to Leon and Bobbi Nevels and according to Culkin and Fisher Ferry Volunteer Fire department officials was believed to have been started by a lightning strike. The homeowners were not home when the blaze started.

The fire is still under investigation.
