A Warren County man accused of causing an alcohol-related crash that killed two people in May will stand trial in February.

Patrick set trial for Feb. 22.

White, who appeared shacked and handcuffed wearing an orange Warren County Jail jumpsuit, made no statements during the hearing. Defense attorney Mike Bonner entered a not guilty plea on his behalf.

White was not arrested following the May 8 crash that killed William Harvey Raney, 56, and John Harold Raney, 52, both of 386 Murray Road while toxicology results were pending, Sheriff Martin Pace has said.

The blood alcohol test came back from the crime lab while the grand jury was in session, and the case was presented.

The indictment against White does not list his blood alcohol level at the time of the crash. The maximum legal blood alcohol content for an adult to drive a noncommercial vehicle in Mississippi is .08.

White was southbound on Oak Ridge Road when his 2012 GMC Sierra collided with the Raneys’ northbound 1985 GM van at about 6 p.m. May 8, according to court documents.

Investigators say White’s vehicle was traveling over the speed limit when he crossed into the northbound lane hitting the Raney’s van.

If convicted, White faces between five and 25 years in prison for each count against him.
