Samuel M. “Maxie” Landers Jr.

Samuel M. “Maxie” Landers Jr. of Vicksburg died Sunday, Aug. 30, 2015, at St. Dominic-Jackson Memorial Hospital.  He was 91.

Mr. Landers was married to the late Elsie G. Landers for 51 years.

He was a retired employee of  R.G. LeTourneau with 43 years of service, and was a member of Wayside Baptist Church.

Besides his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel M. Landers Sr. and Mary Ivey Landers of Vicksburg; one grandson, James Ethan Coldiron; and one sister, Louise McMahon.

Survivors include his six children, Janice Kay Bell, Samuel Troy Landers, David Gregory “Greg” Landers (Dedra), Lori Denise Coldiron (Jimmy), Kelly Neal Landers (Pennye), Patti Nell Goss; six grandchildren, Ashley Whatley, Amber Keen, Cole Landers, Alex Bell, Anna Coldiron, Abby Goss; five great-grandchildren, Mary Katelyn Whatley, Anzley Keen, Jordyn Whatley, Rileigh Whatley, Ruston Landers; four brothers, Willard R. Landers, Edward M. Landers, Harvey Landers, Charles Landers.

Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2015, at Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home with the Rev. Billy Brumfield and the Rev. Chris Williams officiating. Burial will follow at Wayside Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service.

Pallbearers will be Barry Warnock, Ralph Landers, Kenny Landers, Butch Landers, Danny Harmon and Dave Waddell. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Blissett, Jimmy Stanford, Henry Wayne Muirhead, David L. Smith, Tony Warnock, Jamie Greer and Brady Greer.

Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association.
