Vicksburg man held in auto theft, burglary

A Vicksburg man picked up on a probation warrant earlier this week is now facing burglary and auto theft charges.

The charges were added Thursday for Grady Bishop, 22, whose last known address is 111 Bering St., Sheriff Martin Pace said.

Bishop was initially arrested Tuesday on a warrant for the Mississippi Department of Corrections but was already a suspect in the auto theft and burglary when he was arrested, Pace said.

Bishop is accused of burglarizing a Nissan sedan and stealing a four-door 2006 Dodge truck some time before 7:30 a.m. Sunday in the 6600 block of Oak Ridge Road, Pace said.

The keys had been left in the ignition of the truck, Pace said.

Bishop appeared Thursday in Warren County Justice Court where bail was set at $50,000. He is ineligible to post bail because of a because of pending probation revocation hearing. The hearing had not been set Friday.

Bishop was being held in the Warren County Jail.

 

Purse thief held without bail

A Jackson man accused of stealing a purse from a car at Ameristar Casino was held without bail Friday.

Onterrio Hinkle, 27, 225 Queen Ave., Jackson, was arrested about 6 p.m. Thursday as he entered the casino at 4116 Washington St., Vicksburg police Capt. Sandra Williams said.

Before entering the casino, Hinkle is accused of stealing the purse of a casino employee from the trunk of her car, Williams said.

Hinkle was held without bail Friday at Vicksburg police headquarters.

Additionally a 9mm pistol was reported missing from a vehicle at Ameristar RV Park, 700 Lucy Bryson St., at 9:15 a.m. Thursday. No arrest had been made Friday in the gun theft.

 

One held for MDOC

A Warren County man accused of violating probation was held without bail Friday.

James King, 22, whose last known address is 25 Applewood Drive, was held in the Warren County Jail on a warrant for the Mississippi Department of Corrections.

Applewood Drive is a single block running south from U.S. 80 just east of Pepper Ridge Road.

 

Boat stolen from roadside

A boat was missing Friday after being stolen from the side of the road Thursday evening.

At 9:26 p.m. Thursday, the owner of a 15-foot aluminum Gator Trax boat reported it and its trailer were missing after he left it near Mississippi 27 and Erves Road, according to Warren County Sheriff’s records.

The owner told deputies he left the boat on the side of the road after having trouble changing a tire. When he returned, the boat was gone.

Callers to Crime Stoppers remain anonymous and do not have to testify in court.

Crime Stoppers will pay a cash reward of up to $2,500 for information leading to the arrest of a felony suspect.
