Mary L. Buchanan died Sept. 14, 2015, at Merit Health River Region Medical Center. She was 82.

Born to the late Henry Wilson and Bernice Calvin, Mrs. Buchanan was born Nov. 17, 1932, in Issaquena County. She was a member of King David No.1 church, sang in the church choir and later served on the usher board until her health began to fail. She was retired from the Vicksburg Warren School District, where she was employed in the Vicksburg High School cafeteria.

Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert Buchanan; a sister, Dorothy Wilson; and brother, Walter Calvin.

Survivors include her sons, Sherman Wilson Buchanan of Portland, Oregon, and Ronnie Buchanan of Vicksburg; daughters, Gladys Crawford of Lebanon, Tennessee, and Sylvia Foster of Vicksburg; two sisters, Bernice Carter of Vicksburg and Annie Bell Robinson of Florida; a sister-in-law; seven grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2015, at King David No. 1, 2717 Letitia St, with the Rev. A. L. Hines officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.

Visitation is Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2015, from 1 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home.
