Megan Stewart pitched a one-hitter and Warren Central made an early run stand up as it beat Northwest Rankin 1-0 Monday in slow-pitch softball.
Stewart retired the first 10 batters she faced before May Hebert reached on an error with one out in the fourth inning. The only other runner who reached base for Northwest Rankin was Teagun Barnes, who led off the fifth inning with a single. Barnes was retired on an inning-ending double play two batters later.
Kasy Cortezie doubled and scored on a base hit by Sarah Kate Smith in the top of the first inning for the game’s only run.
Warren Central (18-2) only had five hits in the game, two of them singles by April Lynn.
The Lady Vikes will play their regular-season finale Thursday at 6:15 p.m., on the road at Pearl.
