Clear Creek Ladies report

On Wednesday, Clear Creek Ladies Golf Association members met for match play. Joyce Johnson took top honors, with Linda McHann placing second and Lynne Brush placing third. McHann logged the lowest putting score, while Brush made the day’s only chip-in.

VHS hosts college game

Vicksburg High will host a college fast-pitch softball game between Jackson State and East Mississippi Community College at its “Softball Swamp” field on Saturday. The game will be played as a doubleheader at 1 and 3 p.m., and admission is $2 at the gate. For more information, call VHS softball coach Brian Ellis at 417-298-3262.

Fall tennis program

The City of Vicksburg’s youth fall tennis program is under way at the Halls Ferry Park courts. The program will run Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 5 to 6 p.m., and is free. For more information, call Rick Shields at 601-618-4757.

Hinds Community College will host its fourth annual “Monster Mash at Moss” charity softball game Oct. 29 at 6 p.m. at Joe G. Moss baseball field on the Raymond campus. Hinds’ baseball and softball teams will dress in Halloween costumes for the co-ed game, and fans are encouraged to dress up as well. There will be a trick-or-treat area for children.

Admission is $5, or $2 with a Hinds ID. Children 12 and under get in free. All proceeds benefit Blair E. Batson Hospital for Children in Jackson.
