Jinnie Lighter

UTICA — Funeral services for Jinnie Lighter will be 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 24, 2015, at Rohelia Baptist Church of Utica with the Rev. Charles Harper officiating. Burial will follow at the church cemetery under the direction of Robbins Funeral Home.

Visitation will be at the funeral home Friday from noon until 7 p.m. with family hour from 5 to 6 p.m., and Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.

Mrs. Lighter died Sunday, Oct. 18, 2015, at Merit River Region Medical Center.  She was 88.

A native of Hinds County, Mrs. Lighter worked for many years at Sydney Convalescent Home.

She was a member and mother of Mount Olive M.B. Church and a member of the Claiborne County Church Aid Society.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Nathan Lighter Sr., and a sister, Bennie Brinkley.

Mrs. Lighter is survived by a son, Nathan Lighter Jr. of Madison; six daughters, Susie Snow, Alma Divinity, Linda Allen and Arletha Lighter, all of Utica, Cynthia Jones of Augusta, Georgia, and Shirley Presley of Lithonia, Georgia; a goddaughter; 17 grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.
