“I would like to thank the Vicksburg Police Department, the crime investigation division and the uniform division for the quick arrests,” Vicksburg police Chief Walter Armstrong said.

Davis died in the emergency room of Merit Health River Region Medical Center after being transported there by a private vehicle.

He was apparently shot while in the 1400 block of Main Street.

Vicksburg Police Capt. Sandra Williams of the department’s criminal investigation division said someone with a handgun shot Davis in the upper body.

No motive has been released yet, but Armstrong did say the violent crime was senseless.

The homicide is the seventh reported this year in Vicksburg. Arrests have been made in each homicide.
