Roy Edward Wilson

Roy Edward Wilson died Oct. 24, 2015, at his home. He was 70.
Mr. Wilson was born May 27, 1945, to the late Jessie Wilson and Corine Granton Wilson in the Freetown community of Vicksburg.
He received his education in the Vicksburg Public School system, served in the U. S. Army, including a tour in Vietnam, and was honorably discharged as a corporal. He was a truck driver for Boykins Trucking Co.
Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents; four brothers, Countee Wilson Sr., Jessie, John, and Joseph Wilson Sr.; and a sister, Eliza Mae Wright.
Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Shirley B. Wilson of Vicksburg; two daughters, Tonia Wilson-Warner of Jackson and Christine R. Sims of Canton, Michigan; four grandchildren; a sister, Marie Thomas of Albion, Michigan; a brother, Eris Wilson Sr. of Hattiesburg; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, 2015, at Travelers Rest Baptist Church with the Rev. Thomas E. Bernard officiating. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Lakeview Memorial Funeral Home.
Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, and Friday at the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service.
