Sallie R. Williams-Walker

PORT GIBSON — Sallie R. Williams-Walker died Monday, Oct. 26, 2015, at her home in Byram. She was 83.

Mrs. Walker was a member and finance secretary at Big Antioch Baptist Church in Gloster, and worked as cafeteria manager at Amite County Training School and Liberty High School until she retired.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Wade and Josie Gibson-Williams; husband, Anderson Walker; two sisters, Rosalee Weddington and Estella Ward; and a stepdaughter, Vergene Walker Bailey.

Survivors include two daughters, Virgie Walker of New Orleans and Katie Walker Bernard of Jackson; three brothers, Percy Williams of Freemont, California, Leon Williams of Oakland, California, and Glenn (Twanda) Williams of Hampton, Virginia; a sister, Majorie Brandon of Port Gibson, MS; three grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 30, 2015, at Thompson Funeral Home Port Gibson with the Rev. Reginald Bernard of King Solomon Baptist Church in Vicksburg officiating. Burial will be at McCay Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the service.
