City revises boil water order

City officials have issued a revised boil notice alert affecting three areas in the city:

• Indiana Avenue to Clay Street from Mission 66 to U.S. 27.

• Martin Luther King Junior Boulevard from Farmer Street to Mission 66.

• Washington Street to Cherry Street from Clay Street to Speed Street.

The boil water notice was issued after Vicksburg’s water treatment plant shut down because of a power failure and will remain in effect until further notice.

A downed city power line that caused fuses at a city water well and an Entergy utility pole was the cause of the outage.
