Ila Dunegan “Polly” Antoine

Ila Dunegan “Polly” Antoine died Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2015, at Merit Health River Region Medical Center.  She was 89.

Born in El Dorado, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Walter Fritz Dunegan and Nora Coulter Dunegan. Mrs. Antoine was a graduate of Carr Central High School in the class of 1944. For over 30 years, beginning in 1977 she was a Pink Lady with Mercy Hospital, Parkview Medical Center and the River Region Medical Center Auxiliary where she volunteered in all areas of service and will be remembered for her work in the hospital beauty shops where she helped many of the patients with her friendly smile. Mrs. Antoine enjoyed painting, travel and family gatherings.  She was a communicant of St. Michael Catholic Church where she was a charter member.

She is survived by two daughters, Christy Antoine Middleton (Tommy) and Pam Antoine; and two sons, Ricky Antoine (Susan) and Mark  Antoine (Jane).

She is survived by nine grandchildren: Rebeka Seemann, Kimberly Seemann McLain, David Antoine, James Antoine, Steven Antoine, Alex Antoine, Chris Antoine, Thomas Middleton and Matt Middleton.

Mrs. Antoine is also survived by six great-grandchildren: Elli Brynn Antoine, Kennedi McLain, Henlee Middleton, Preslee Middleton, Ryker Middleton and Taylor Middleton.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Chris C. Antoine Jr.; two sisters, Rosa Perez and Louise Kittrell; and two brothers, Jimmy Vaughn and Fritz Dunegan.

A Funeral Mass will be 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 9, 2015, at St. Michael Catholic Church with Father P. J. Curley, Pastor, as celebrant. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the service. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery under the direction of Riles Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to St. Michael Catholic Church, 100 St. Michael Place, Vicksburg, MS 39180 and to Palmer’s Children’s Home, Post Office Box 747, Columbus, MS 39703.

Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
