Warren Central’s girls basketball team used a superb defensive effort to overcome a so-so offensive one, and cruised to a 41-13 victory over Crystal Springs on Saturday.

Amber Gaston led the Lady Vikes with 12 points, seven rebounds and seven blocked shots. Kiara Lockhart had nine points and four steals, and T.T. Sims finished with six points, four steals and six assists.

As a team, WC had nearly a dozen steals and a dozen more deflections.

Crystal Springs beat Warren Central 56-34 in the boys’ game.

Warren Central will play at Ridgeland Tuesday night before returning home for games against Hazlehurst on Thursday and Hattiesburg on Saturday afternoon.
