PORT GIBSON — Vernice Brinston died Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2015, at Claiborne County Senior Care in Port Gibson. She was 102.

Mrs. Brinston was preceded in death by her parents, George Joyce and Barbara Jackson Joyce; a daughter, Annie B. Harris; her husband, Pattie Brinston Sr.; and a sister and brother.

Survivors include by two sons, Eugene Brinston and Pattie Brinston Jr., both of Port Gibson;  daughter, Ruby L. Allen of Port Gibson; sister, Marie Robinson of Utica; 30 grandchildren; and great-grandchildren; great-great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 21, 2015, at Mercy Seat M.B. Church  in Port Gibson, with the Rev. Troy Smith officiating, assisted by the Rev. Frank McGriggs. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home Inc. of Port Gibson. Visitation will be Friday from 1 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home, and Saturday at the church from 10 a.m. until the service.
