Oris Calvin “Shorty” Ivy, 89, lifelong resident of Anguilla, passed away Nov. 19, 2015, at Sharkey-Issaquena Community Hospital.

O.C. was born in Sturgis on July 20, 1926, to Lillie Irene and William F. Ivy. He was a graduate of Anguilla High School, and retired after 32 years from Southern Natural Gas Co.

O.C. was preceded in death by his daughter, Charlotte Diane Ivy Freeney.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Hazel Lanell Hopson Ivy; son, Bobby Joe Ivy; daughter; Cheryl Lynn Ivy Dunlap; five grandchildren, William Calvin Freeney, Kirk Adam Freeney, Alec McCarty Dunlap, Ivy Breanna Dunlap, Summer Christian Dunlap; and two great-grandchildren, Kira Jewel Freeney, and Kenna Everett Freeney.

He was a very loving and giving husband, father and grandfather. He embodied the spirit of generosity that touched many lives.

One of his favorite charities is St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital. The family asks that you consider this wonderful hospital if making donations.
