Mary L. Johnson

O’FALLON, Ill. — Mary L. Johnson, nee Walker, 66, of O’Fallon, passed away on Sunday, Nov. 22, 2015 at her residence.

Mary was born on July 8, 1949, in Prentiss to the late Robert and Mary Walker.  She began her education in the state of Mississippi and completed it at Belleville Area College (SWIC) in Belleville, Ill.  She met and married Oliver Johnson on Jan. 3, 1967, in Spokane, Wash. and her life as a United States Air Force military wife began.  The military career led them to England and Tinker AFB in Oklahoma where they were blessed with their first child Artie Johnson.  Wright-Patterson AFB, Ohio, was the next stop where Marilyn Johnson joined the family.  Eric Johnson was born at their stop at Tyndall AFB, Florida. Last but not least, Jay Johnson completed their family in Vicksburg.  Mary was dedicated to raising their children, providing them with a solid foundation rooted in love, respect and discipline.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Mary Walker, nee Lockhart; husband, Oliver Lee Johnson; one brother, Robert Walker Jr. and two sisters, Evelyn Walker and Eva Stampley.

Mary is survived by her children, Artie Johnson of Vicksburg, Marilyn Johnson of O’Fallon, Eric (Christina) Johnson of Shiloh, Ill. and Jay (Neya) Johnson of Birmingham, Ala.; three sisters and six brothers, Charlie Walker of Seattle, James Walker of Anchorage, Alaska, John Walker of Vicksburg, Edmond Walker (Frankie Smith) of Belleville, Ill., Melvin (Linda) Walker of Vicksburg, Raymond (Hazel) Walker of Vicksburg, Willie Nell (Paul) Ferguson of Jackson, Joyce Evans of Vicksburg and Rosie (Donnell) Wince of Vicksburg; three grandchildren, Rhylea, Erica and Jayla Johnson; and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Monday, Nov. 30, 2015, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Schildknecht Funeral Home in O’Fallon.

Funeral service will be Tuesday, Dec. 1, 2015, at 10 a.m. at the O’Fallon Apostolic Assembly in O’Fallon with Lead Pastor Curtis Gilbert officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to Schildknecht Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
