A Vicksburg man was out of jail on $25,000 bond following his arrest Wednesday on charges of four counts of false pretense totaling $2,000.
Bond was set for Dondi Lee Cotton, 53, 711 Belva Drive Apt. 12, at an initial appearance Friday in Warren County Justice Court. Cotton turned himself in at the Warren County Sheriff’s Office Wednesday on a grand jury warrant. He was held in the Warren County Jail until his court appearance.
Cotton is accused in an indictment dated Oct. 27 of trying to get four men to sign documents to get them to pay him $500 each. A spokesman for the Mississippi Attorney General’s Office would not release what type of documents were involved.
According to information from the attorney general’s office, Cotton began talking to the men in April 2010, and made false promises to the investors in order to obtain their signature on documents and their investments.
If convicted, he faces up to 10 years behind bars and a $10,000 fine for each count.
The investigation into the case is ongoing.
