Warren Central’s boys basketball team let a halftime lead slip away Friday night and lost 68-61 to Brandon.

Shunterrence Walton scored 22 points for Warren Central, Chavis Smith had 12 and Jalen Allen finished with nine. It wasn’t enough, however, as the Vikings (5-7) lost their third consecutive game after winning four in a row.

Brandon (6-4) won for the fifth time in six games.

The Vikings will have a week off before playing Cleveland next Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Ridgeland High School Shootout tournament.

Without injured post player Cocoa Fultz, Warren Central struggled to contain Brandon on the offensive boards and lost for the second time in three games.

Fultz sprained her ankle in practice on Wednesday and is not expected back until some time in January. She’s the team’s second-leading scorer and rebounder.

“They were bigger, but we’ve got to learn to block out better,” Warren Central coach Jackie Martin-Glass said. “We missed (Fultz’s) presence inside.”

T.T. Sims led Warren Central with 10 points, seven rebounds and four steals. The Lady Vikes were just 13-for-47 (27.7 percent) shooting from the field.
